OPT Flight Instructor Pathway
Turning your Aviation Training into a 12-months aviation employment opportunity
We support international aviation students holding student visas in using Optional Practical Training (OPT) to secure employment as Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) and in other eligible aviation positions in the United States for up to 12 months following the completion of their training.

How it works
We recommend starting the process around 6 months before you want to begin working as a flight instructor.
01
Free Online Meeting
We begin with a short online meeting followed by a full review of your training status, visa history, and school enrollment. We confirm your OPT eligibility and define the ideal timeline based on your program completion date.
02
School Coordination & Document Preparation
We coordinate with your flight school to confirm their participation and any partnership benefits available to you. At the same time, we help you gather and prepare all required documents to ensure a clean, complete, and compliant application.
03
Application Submission
Your OPT package is submitted to U.S. immigration. We guide you through the process to ensure your application is filed correctly and on time, avoiding unnecessary delays or issues.
04
Receive Your EAD (Employment Authorization Document)
Once approved, you receive your EAD card by mail. This card serves as official proof that you are authorised to work in the United States in an aviation-related role.
05
Start Working
With your EAD in hand, you may begin working as a CFI, CFII, MEI, Ground Instructor, or in another eligible aviation role. This is the start of your professional experience in the U.S., helping you build flight time, operational skills, and a stronger career profile.

Why OPT is a powerful opportunity for aviation students
• High approval rate: up to 94 percent of OPT applications are approved by USCIS.
• Fast processing: average 90 days compared to up to 2 years for long term immigration processes.
• Lower initial cost: permanent residency applications can cost up to 10 times more.
• Real-world experience: you can legally work as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and in other qualifying aviation roles while building flight hours in the United States.
